Laney has been named managing partner of the firm. Jill follows Thom Brown, who held that position since 1994. In addition to her new role, Jill will continue with her real estate practice. Glenn W. Robles is CVK's newest partner. Glenn's practice focuses on transportation litigation. A recent Portland Business Journal article concerning the state of Portland's real estate market quotes CVK's managing partner, Jill D. Laney. Read the entire article. Andy J. Cicerrella and Michael J. Mangan have joined the firm as associate attorneys. Andy is in CVK's transportation litigation department and Michael is involved in business and real estate transactions and litigation. CVK attorneys successfully defend a $4.1 million lawsuit in Marion County Circuit Court. Lead trial attorney, Ken Abere along with Wally Sweek and Paul Berg obtained a defense verdict on a claim involving construction delays and lost profits. The eight day trial involved more than 20 witnesses and 400 trial exhibits. Oregon's Vanishing Civil Jury Trial. An article in Oregon State Bar Bulletin's November issue on the subject quotes CVK's Tom Christ and Thom Brown. CVK's Aukjen Ingraham and Glenn Robles are also mentioned in connection with an innovative new program with the Multnomah County District Attorney that provides courtroom experience for civil lawyers. Paralegal, MaryAnn Ivie, accepted the Oregon Paralegal Association's Outstanding Professional Services Award on behalf of CVK at the recent 35th Anniversary dinner. The award honors the firm that best exemplifies commitment to the paralegal profession.
