Law Practice

Andy Burns heads the Construction Practice Group for the firm.  He represents contractors and developers in solving and preventing problems and in litigating construction defect disputes.  He also has significant experience in defending personal injury, products liability, and premises liability litigation.

Education & Bar Admissions

Andy earned a bachelor's degree in Economics at the University of Oregon in 1983 and his law degree from Northwestern School of Law, Lewis & Clark College in 1987.

Andy gained admission to the Oregon State Bar and United States District Court for Oregon in 1988.

Professional Activities

Andy is a member of the Oregon Association of Defense Counsel, the Multnomah Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Defense Research Institute, and the Portland Homebuilders Association.  He serves on the Multnomah County Local Professional Responsibility Committee, and the State Lawyer Assistance Committee.  Andy is also a member of the American Law Firm Association's Construction Practice Group Steering Committee.

He frequently speaks and writes on all aspects of construction-from contract formation and bid process to construction disputes, liens and post construction defect claims.

Community Activities and Interests

Andy volunteers as a member of the Owen Panner Inns of Court, a non-profit legal organization dedicated to the education and mentoring of young lawyers.

He also coaches youth soccer and enjoys bicycle racing and tennis.
